Aims & Curriculum
High Standard of Education and Care
Aims
At Rectory Nursery School we aim to provide a high standard of education and care, enabling the children to learn and develop in a happy, caring and homely environment, through play, build humility and confidence in children, build parent/carer relationships with practitioners, create equality within the setting for all and develop their respect for all faiths.
Curriculum
Early Years Education and care are the most important moments in
every child’s life. These are the foundations on which every child’s future
experience and learning are built upon. At the Rectory Nursery School, we aim to ensure that all children from 3 months ‑ 5 years have access to a high standard of play, education and care. Stimulating activities, opportunities and experiences will be provided for the child according to the age and appropriateness.
Early Years Foundation stage
The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) 2012 framework and the National Standards builds a coherent and flexible approach to care and learning. Rectory Nursery School will use the EYFS
to ensure parents can be confident that their child will receive a quality experience that supports their development and learning. For children from the age of 3 months ‑ 5 years we use the guidance of the EYFS which will divide children's learning and education programme into seven areas of learning, and these are:

-
Personal, Social and Emotional Development
-
Communication and Language
-
Physical Development
-
Literacy
-
Mathematics
-
Understanding the World
-
Expressive Arts and Design

Our curriculum is play based with high emphasis on free-play and free-flow. During the day there will be opportunities for problem solving, making choice, exploration, physical play,
imaginative play and developing confidence and independence. The themes and weekly activity plans will be on display in each base room.
